The Folkestone is a Library School Workshops are all about storytelling – encouraging children to dream up characters, create new worlds, and share their ideas through drawing and imagination. So far this term, we’ve welcomed pupils from Stella Maris Primary School and Morehall Primary School and have been thrilled by the enthusiasm, creativity, and brilliant ideas on show.

Across the sessions, children have spent time designing characters, illustrating scenes, sharing ideas with classmates and building their own imaginative worlds. Their drawings and stories will become part of a growing Folkestone is a Library archive – a collection of ideas, characters and creativity created by young people across the town.

The workshops are as much about confidence and creativity as they are about storytelling itself, giving children space to experiment, collaborate and see where an idea might lead.

“I thought it was great! Very engaging and the children had a brilliant time. Thank you! I spoke to a couple of children and they all said they loved the workshop and getting to make their stories with the characters.”
